Is the Swine Flu a real threat? According to world media this is a real crisis, but it is important that we do not get our news only from secular sources. Having read or skimmed through nearly two novels worth of prophecies posted each month, I find it interesting that I really can’t recall a clear prophetic word predicting an outbreak of global sickness or plague for this time. I know according to the Bible plagues will come, but I am beginning to think this Swine Flu at this time is not one of them.

However, it is possible I simply missed reading those warnings. Prophets were warned about Katrina, and even the devastating Boxing Day Tsunami in Asia, but news of these prophetic warnings only emerged much later. So we do see that our reporting and sharing of prophecy is still maturing. So maybe the people He’s told prophetically about Swine Flu haven’t shared their insight. Or maybe we have a prophetic blind spot in this area. Maybe we’ll get caught off guard and we’ll learn a big lesson.

But it is also very possible that this is not a real threat. We need to test prophecy by the witness of God’s Spirit and personal confirmation … but all the more we need to test the secular news the same way!­­—asking the Lord to confirm and clarify what the global secular media is preaching.

Vision: a Pig with a Saddle

Interestingly enough, a friend just mentioned a vision to me a day or two ago. What this friend saw was a very large pig (think elephant size) and it was wearing a saddle standing outside a fence and it was making scary faces like it was trying to frighten people intentionally. What was clear was that it was not let loose on its own, but it was wearing a saddle, suggesting it was being controlled by someone or something unseen.

SARS in Hong Kong

I think we must be wise and prepare for certain eventualities, but especially by learning to live in God’s protection.

I recall living in Hong Kong during the SARS outbreak, which was a kind of pneumonia which killed about 770 people around the world. That same year normal pneumonia killed around TWO MILLION people, but SARS was very fast and hard to treat, so it got the spotlight. Hong Kong and other governments learned a lot during SARS and people here are now more prepared than they would have been without that experience, and that itself is the answer to many people’s prayers.

Years after it passed the Lord told me that SARS was only a preparation for Hong Kong and not the real crisis. So while I KNOW we will see a real plague come, I am not sure Swine Flu is it at this time.

You Shall Not Fear the Pestilence If ...

I also want to say that during SARS we were well taken care of providentially. People here also learned to value their families more, work less, be more clean and considerate, (all areas of major strongholds) and so we saw overall God turned it around for much good.

But the greatest FACT that I believe people need to know during any crisis or outbreak is in Psalm 91, where God PROMISES that if you make HIM your fortress and refuge ... “⁵You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, ⁶nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. ⁷A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. ⁸You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. ⁹If you make the Most High your dwelling—even the LORD, who is my refuge—¹⁰then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent.” Amen!
